PROTECTING YOUR LARGEST INVESTMENT

The John Wickhem Agency has been providing quality Homeowners insurance solutions since 1985 to our clients throughout Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Our Homeowners insurance policies provide our clients with the peace of mind from knowing their homes – often the largest investment anyone makes – are protected.

As a Trusted Choice Independent Insurance Agent, we are free to work with our own carefully selected group of financially sound, reputable Homeowner’s insurance companies to find the right products at the best price point for your needs.

UNDERSTANDING HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE

A Homeowners insurance policy combines coverage for multiple things:

  • Damage to the dwelling or physical structure of your home because of a natural disaster or fire
  • Loss of the contents of your home because of natural disaster, fire, or theft
  • Personal injury of someone visiting your home

A Homeowners policy is usually adequate to meet the needs of most people. However, as with any type of insurance, it pays to work with a professional at The John Wickhem Agency who will take the time to evaluate your situation in detail initially, then periodically review your coverage to address anything that may have changed. For example, you may need to purchase additional or specialized insurance to cover items of high value that you acquire, such as:

  • Jewelry
  • Antiques
  • Collections of art, coins, cars, and other collectibles
  • High-end audio and/or visual equipment

FLOOD INSURANCE

Another circumstance that you may need to consider is the risk of flooding. Homeowners insurance policies do not cover damage or loss from a flood. If you live near a stream, river, lake, or other natural flood zone, you may be required to have a flood insurance policy.

UMBRELLA LIABILITY COVERAGE

You’ve bought or built your dream home. Let The John Wickhem Agency make sure it doesn’t turn into a nightmare. Your risk of personal financial loss can increase if you have certain things, such as:

  • A swimming pool
  • A trampoline
  • A boat
  • Some dog breeds
  • Guns

These can increase your risk of a lawsuit if someone is injured at your home or on your boat. All insurance policies have coverage limits. If you’re sued by someone, your liability could exceed those limits. If that happens, you’re personally responsible for anything over your policy limits. This is where a personal umbrella policy can reduce or eliminate such a risk.

HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE –
NOT JUST FOR HOMEOWNERS

If you live in a condominium, you may also need to insure any structural additions you make to your living space that isn’t covered by your Association’s insurance policy. Be sure to check with your Association. Condominium owners and renters both would be well-advised to get a policy that will replace their personal property in case of natural disaster, fire, theft, etc.
